How to Apply

Who are we looking for

Artists from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The program has an emphasis on performance arts but we are looking for creative and enthusiastic people willing to take risks, push themselves, and be open to trying new things. All classes are taught in English (Fluency in English is not required).  The Academy seeks to cultivate a diverse and vibrant class composed of learners from all over the globe.  We encourage all our students to devise work that challenges and inspires, in the hope that they will discover the fullness of their physical, emotional, and creative potential.

What you need to apply
The application process is a bit different for each program. Check your program below for more information.

Full-time Professional Training Program

As opposed to workshops and intensives, the process of applying to the Full-time Professional Training Program is a bit longer.  Applicants to the Professional Training Program are asked to submit:

An online application form.  We ask you to include a short letter of motivation of 2,000 characters or less. Applicants may also provide up to three links to relevant websites, images, videos, or documents that help the faculty understand their application.

Additionally, applicants will be asked for:

  • Two letters of recommendation from current or former colleagues, directors, or teachers. These people should know you well and be able to explain why you would be an excellent candidate for the program.

  • A resume or CV outlining details of your artistic experience

  • Headshot or recent photo

  • Photocopy of passport or ID

If requesting a scholarship, we ask you for an additional essay, up to a page in length, detailing reasons for requesting the scholarship.

After reviewing all material, you may be contacted by The Academy director, Hunter Gates, for an in-person or online interview. This interview is required before students are admitted to the Full-Time Program.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and decisions are released up to eight weeks after applications are received.
